Heedfulness


Appamādo amataṃ padaṃ
Pamādo maccuno padaṃ
Heedfulness, the path to the Deathless.
Heedlessness, the path to death.

Appammattā ne miyyanti
Ye pamattā yathā matā.
The heedful do not die.
The heedless, as if already dead.

Etaṃ vesesato ñatvā,
Appamādamhi paṇḍitāti.
Knowing this as a true distinction,
The wise are established in heedfulness.
